Dear Friends and Colleagues,

On behalf of the Conference Committee, we are honoured to invite you to the National Occupational Therapy Conference, to be held in Singapore from 5 to 6 October 2012.

Jointly organised by Singapore Association of Occupational Therapists and Malaysia Occupational Therapy Association, the Conference is held in conjunction with the 10th Singapore-Malaysia Occupational Therapy Symposium. The Conference theme, “Transcending Boundaries Towards Seamless Care”, is developed with the aim of nurturing a holistic and inclusive occupational therapy and long-term care environment in Singapore and the region. Acute-centric, hospital-based systems are no longer sustainable solutions as the population continues to age rapidly. Coupled with the increasing prevalence of chronic diseases and various disabilities, there is a need for the integrated and care sectors to be strengthened, so that occupational therapists in both sectors can work together to provide coordinated, coherent and quality care.

In addition to a comprehensive Conference programme, delegates can also look forward to three workshops and scientific paper presentations, during which practitioners and students alike can learn more about the latest findings, industry best practices and innovative approaches. We are therefore confident that the Conference will encourage and facilitate meaningful discussions geared towards building an environment where patients can move seamlessly across providers.

Outside of the Conference, we encourage you to seize the ample opportunities to explore the most vibrant city in South East Asia — Singapore. Cosmopolitan and easily accessible, Singapore will enthral you with her multitude of entertainment and leisure options.
