The Scientific Committee invites participants to submit their abstracts of original, unpublished works, case reports, and reviews for oral or poster presentation.
We welcome non-research based presentations to share quality improvement initiatives, and new areas of practice or approaches, demonstrating the innovative roles of Occupational Therapy and advancement in Occupational Therapy practice and research.
Outstanding researchers and innovators will stand a chance to win the “Best Oral Research Award”, “Best Innovation Project Award”, or “Best Student Presentation Award”.

Abstract Submission Guidelines & Instructions
Title
The title should be as brief as possible. Do not use any abbreviations or acronyms. The title will be published as submitted.
Methodological Category
Authors will be required to select either of the following methodological categories that best fit your submission.
- Research
- Quality Improvement Projects
- Innovative Practice e.g. descriptions of practice innovations, advocacy efforts, new technologies or products, introductions to new interventions, and service proposals.
The Scientific Committee reserves the right to determine the final Category that best suits the abstract.
Topics
Choose a topic that best fits your abstract. The topic will be used by the Scientific Committee to assign papers to the reviewers and place them in the appropriate oral presentation sessions.

- The abstract text should not exceed 250 words. All abstracts must be presented in clear English with accurate grammar and spelling, suitable for publication. Abbreviations should be given in brackets after the first full use of the word. Do not use tables or graphics. All data must be in narrative form. Submissions in note or point form will not be accepted. References are not required. If you wish to include them, they must be within the 250 word count.
- Research studies or quality improvement projects presented should be significantly advanced or completed at the time of submission. The abstract should make clear of the status of the study/ project. Completed studies/ projects will present the full results.
- Do not include authors’ names, institutions, or other identifiers in your abstracts as all abstracts will be blind reviewed.
Abstract Revisions
- Please contact the Conference Secretariat for any abstract revisions.
Selection
- All submissions will be assessed by the Scientific Committee for technical merit and suitability of content.
- The Scientific Committee reserves the right to reject any paper that does not meet content or presentation expectations.
- Final placement in an oral session is subject to the Committee’s discretion.
- The abstracts will be reviewed based on the following criteria:
- Quality of written abstract
- Completeness and relevance of information provided
- Impact to occupational therapy practice
Presentation
- All Authors should be prepared to do an oral presentation.
- Authors will be informed if they have been selected for poster presentation.
- If the Presenting Author is unable to present the abstract, a Co-Author can take his/her place.
Publication
- Abstracts will be published as submitted.
- Abstracts considered unsuitable for reproduction will not be published.
- The Scientific Committee reserves the right to modify the submitted text of abstracts to correct grammatical and sentence construction errors. Every effort will be made, in these instances, not to alter the meaning of the text. Corresponding authors will be contacted for confirmation of the final version prior to inclusion in proceedings.
